"Marilyn and Arthur were returning from Paris and stopped in the TWA Press Room at New York’s Idlewild Airport (now John F. Kennedy International) to do the obligatory interviews and “welcome home” photographs.

"They were both tired and Arthur was a bit grumpy, so the session wrapped up rather quickly.

"Newsreel cameramen were packing up their equipment, some of the still photographers had left for other assignments, when Marilyn, on a whim, suddenly grabbed her husband and planted a big wet smooch on his lips. "I almost missed 'the shot of the day,' but luckily I had not yet put my camera away in my bag, and managed get this 'grab shot.”
